Multi Purpose Semi-Submersibles (MPSS)
In co-operation with Seaways Engineering, a California based Design Team we announce the introduction of a low cost Semi Submersible for Marginal Fields.
- Originally Designed for Marginal Fields in the Harsh North Sea Environment
- Integrated System Storage
- All processing equipment located on main deck
Both companies are focused on providing a multi functional solution to compete with the MOPU, FSO and FPSO
The MPSS has been thoroughly investigated and is approved by Lloyds Register, ABS and DnV.
Its development was funded and approved by Shell and Conoco.
Certified (insurable): Lloyds, DNV, ABS
Engineering Studies: Atkins, Statoil, Glasgow University, NASSCO
Lead time: 10 months
High Performance: Low Heave, High Payload Safety: Double Skin at Sea Level
Cost: Competitive
Advantages
1.Ease of construction: Standard Shipbuilding Procedures
2.Large Deck Area: 8,100 m2 (90 X 90)
3.Modular design: Scalable, Versatility, Skid-on/Skid-off friendly
4.SCR’s: Steel Catenary Risers
5.Long Life Expectancy: Fatigue resistant, Low maintenance design
6.Low Environmental Impact: Redeployable
7.Large Capacity Storage: Oil over water, 300,000+ bbls
8.High Stability
9.Catenary Moorings
10.Multi purpose including Ultra Deep-water
11.Standard off-the-Shelf packages
12.Cargo loading rate is estimated to be 5,000-10,000 bbls per day, displaced seawater is monitored using three stage separators to ensure against pollution
13.All equipment installed on main deck, avoids complicated outfitting problems
14.Dockside Outfitting eliminates expensive mating, outfitting and commissioning offshore

MPSS for Marginal Fields
Asia Marginal Field Requirements:
–Typical Water Depth from 65 to 150m
–Production of 15,000 bbls per day
–HSIG – 5.4 m 100 year return
–Tropical revolving storm – HSIG 6.7 m, wind speed 27 m/s
–Simple, Scalable, Safe, Standardized with Versatility
What makes the MPSS the ideal solution for this demand?
–Large Capacity Storage : Oil over water – 300,000+ bbls
–High Stability – Low heave response ensures superior performance
–Fixed Catenary Moorings – No Turret
–SCR’s : Steel Catenary Risers
–Low Environmental Impact : Redeployable
–Displaced seawater is monitored using three stage separators to ensure against pollution – zero oil discharge
–High Export Rate – simple mooring system
