With our partner in the UK who have advanced the development of hydrogen as a green energy by demonstrating a new form of production. The patented, technology has been developed and validated an efficient, cost-effective and reliable means of producing hydrogen, lowering the barriers to wide-scale adoption and accelerating the progress towards a zero-carbon future.
The technology includes a Membrane-Free Electrolyser™ (MFE) in combination with cryogenic separation to deliver pure hydrogen and pure oxygen as separate gases. The system is simple, safe and sustainable, made of non-exotic materials, providing a cost-effective alternative to both alkaline and PEM electrolysis (read our Electrolyser Technology Comparison document here). The technology may be deployed at any scale and into a wide variety of applications. When supplied by renewable electricity, the technology delivers green hydrogen.
Hydrogen as a process enhancer
The key element of our innovative technology is the electrolysis of water without requiring a membrane combined with separation of the oxygen and hydrogen gases using cryogenics. This unique approach to hydrogen production provides some flexibility in applications as both the oxygen and the heat from the electrolysis process may also be harvested by simple re-engineering of the basic product, in order to serve many applications such as pre-heating of water for heat networks, or using the combination of hydrogen and oxygen for combustion or steam turbine without production of NOx gases.
